Predicting the response of a cancerous tumor to therapy is an important objective in cancer research. A major area of interest is to identify genomic biomarkers in tumors that can help predict their response to a certain cancer drug. It has been shown that there is heterogeneity in drug sensitivity biomarkers, even for drugs that belong to the same class, such as EGFR inhibitors. There is also heterogeneity in the efficacy of various drug compounds within the same class.
