Im new to Minecraft. What do I do, and how do I play?

My Oculus Minecraft app says that Windows 10, Update 1511 is required. What do I do?

Do I need to be online or connected to the Internet to play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition?

This may be due to some confusion between your graphics cards regarding HDMI input and the Rift. If you have HDMI inputs going into both cards, unplug the HDMI input thats not associated with the Oculus Rift.

Once completed, youll be able to download the game on your Windows 10 device.

If you redeem your code and youre not running Windows 10, youll see a message in Microsoft Store saying that you can only download the game to a Windows 10 device. Dont worry: If you signed in online with your own Xbox account on an earlier version of Windows, the game will be waiting for you as soon as youre running Windows 10 on any of your devices.

Can I continue playing my existing version of Minecraft on PC/Mac?

The Windows 10 Edition does not currently support the transferring of worlds from other devices.

Check any other accounts you use on your Windows 10 device, and see if they have the option to install Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition.

If you already had the Store app open when you redeemed your code, youll still get the game for free. Close and reopen the Store app, and you should see the game available for you to download at no cost.

Your existing Minecraft experience wont change at all, and the Windows 10 edition isnt intended to be an upgrade to your existing game. You can play the Windows 10 edition in parallel with the Java PC/Mac version, allowing you to see the new features and provide feedbackand at the same time maintain your existing worlds.

You may be able to purchase a Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition code from select retailers, but the easiest way to get the game is online from Microsoft Store.

To verify that you have purchased Minecraft on your Mojang account, sign in at theMojang accountpage and look for your purchase under My Games. If you own it, itll be listed there against your profile name. If you dont see it listed, you either dont own it or didnt use that account to buy it.

How do I provide feedback on the game?

In order to play Minecraft on Oculus Rift, youll need to have a copy of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition purchased either from Microsoft Store, or from the Oculus Store. Once youve purchased it, signing in to both your Microsoft account and your Oculus account will sync the game between the two. This also means that any add-ons or skin packs you purchase will be available to play on your Oculus Rift.

Will Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition be available to purchase in retail stores?

How do I change how my character looks?

You can request your code at any time, but you can only run the game on a Windows 10 device. Youll be unable to download the game on an earlier operating system.

If that account can install the game, youll need to use that account to play your free copy of Minecraft.

If you earn any achievements while playing offline, they will sync to your account the next time you sign in to Xbox Live on your device. Your game save progress will also sync when you sign in to Xbox Live.
