I use NetBeans for PHP development and like it a lot.
NetBeans is not suitable to create a single Java class, for example, to solve algorithm challenge. It will create unnecessary packages and directories.

It gives you what you need to write code in java. It has a good system for finding mistakes in the code. It works fine. Works fine on vista unlike any Visual Studio J Ive found.
